Tucson Progressive Democrat letter to editor  of The Tucson Weekly re: 200,000 out of 1 million people in Pima County living in poverty. I think the story title was “If poverty were a disease, Pima County would have an epidemic’.

Here are some of the Progressive Democrats Solutions:
– Fund public eduction
– Work with unions to develop and enhance training.
– Develop community bank (government funded?)
– Affordable (subsidized) child care
– Meaningful compensation so a person can live with dignity
– Enhance protection of workers – health, conditions, safety
– Subsidized – discounted rent for small business and non-profits

The Progressive Democrats have been in firm control of Tucson and Pima County for the past 25 years and have had a chance to put their policies in place.

The RESULTS – 200,000 out of 1 million people live in poverty. One in Five of us are living below $21,000 per year for a family of 4.  Are these suggestions going to turn the tide? Do you have any suggestions or alternative ideas to stem the tide of poverty?

Here’s a hint, focusing on new industries and taking care of the one’s we have have to be part of the equation…….. http://ow.ly/5EoYF
