Eye said he’s working with the nonprofit Warehouse Arts Management Organization to secure funding that would allow WAMO to buy the warehouses and then lease them back to the tenants.

A consultant for WAMO, Jim Willcox, said the organization has voted to try and find the money to buy Eye’s building, and hopes to do the same with the other structures ADOT is putting up for bid.

“Our goal is to keep the warehouses as they’re currently used,” Willcox said. “The challenge here is going to be … coming up with whatever the minimum down payment the state and the lenders are going to require.”
